The Retail Active Story

We have always been passionate about standards and quality of service. Some people think we are totally obsessed by them, we agree!

Giving and receiving outstanding service is a critical part of everything we think and do. We are positively fanatical about standards and customer service and are driven to help others to achieve flawless execution of their brand and business.

The story started in 1982 when the founding directors worked as trainees in renowned 5* hotels. It was here that they first appreciated the importance of consistency in service delivery.

Mystery Shoppers Academy

Lucky to work with some of the brightest and successful people in hospitality, leisure and retail they were inspired to keep on improving service standards, quality and consistency, it become a quest.

This quest became a mission to educate people about the positive effects of great customer service. In 1997, having spent the previous three years working hard to train 20,000 people on a customer service project, we were delighted to have won our first National Training Award.

Winning such a prestigious award gave us significant credibility and the business flourished becoming known as Sequential Solutions Ltd.

Our unique style of training became increasingly sought after and it wasn’t long before customers asked us to do mystery visits to check standards and services at their businesses.

In 2001 we launched Retail Active with the purpose of collating business intelligence for our clients. This success led to our decision to specialise in mystery shopping programmes and brand audits for prestige brands and businesses.

We spent the following years designing, developing and perfecting the way we work. We stuck to our belief that for businesses to be successful they must offer a consistent level of service, one that is complimentary to their brand.

As the business grew it became increasingly difficult to recruit people with the right skills and competencies. With our heritage as a training organisation we soon realised that if we couldn’t find enough people with the right skills then we would need to train them. After all, our clients are the best and they expect nothing less than excellence from us.

After years of developing award winning training programmes we proudly launched the Mystery Shoppers Academy of Great Britain. The Academy is the only training initiative of its kind in the world. It ensures that every single member of our team is carefully selected and trained to our exacting standards. No other mystery shopping company provides this level of training or anything near it!
