Shopper Payment Questions

How much do I get paid?

Payment varies from assignment to assignment. Full payment details appear on each brief, please read the brief in detail especially in relation to expenses reimbursement. Sometimes you make purchases you can keep and still be reimbursed for.

Mystery shopping is not a full time job but it’s a great way of supplementing your income.

How do I get paid?

All work completed by shoppers must be invoiced. You must attach any appropriate receipts to validate your invoice. Payments are made by cheque 21 days from receipt. All shoppers are classed as self-employed and you are responsible for declaring payments and paying tax due to the Inland Revenue.

Will I receive a payslip?

You will not be provided with a payslip. You are responsible for paying your own tax, we do not deduct it from your payments.

Why do I need to provide receipts?

In order to validate your assignment we require receipts when purchases are made. Occasionally our clients query reports and the receipts act as confirmation of the day, time and purchase made.

Will I be employed by Retail Active?

You are self-employed and not an employee or agent of Retail Active. We may request your services on an assignment-by-assignment basis, or we may not request your services at all. We will not withhold taxes from your payments to pay tax nor pay taxes on your behalf.
